DAVID WINS OVERALL BEST CANDIDATE IN 2024 WASSCE
Hope College is thrilled to share the phenomenal news of one of our own, David Nii Commey Ankrah, who has brought immense pride and honour to our institution and the country as a whole. David emerged as the Overall Best Candidate in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), outperforming over 2.4 million candidates across the sub-region.

The prestigious award was presented to him during an elaborate ceremony held in Monrovia, Liberia, on 18th March, 2025, where David received the honour from none other than His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., the President of the Republic of Liberia. It was a moment of glory that reinforced the exceptional academic standards nurtured at Hope College.
Throughout his time at Hope College, David distinguished himself as a symbol of excellence, discipline, and determination. He was not only an outstanding academic performer but also a role model to his peers. Known for his unwavering commitment to his studies and an insatiable quest for knowledge, David consistently topped his class and was an “Acer” —an Honourary termly award for exceptional academic performance – in all his three years of study at Hope College.
Today, David continues to soar even higher. He is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy programme at the University of Cape Coast, where we believe he will continue to excel.
At Hope College, we are immensely proud of David and celebrate this landmark achievement as a testament to what can be accomplished through dedication, resilience, and the right learning environment. His success inspires not only current students but generations to come.

David is the second graduate from Hope College to win a WAEC International award, the first being Godfred Aseda Obeng, who emerged as the second overall best student in Ghana and West Africa at the 2020 WASSCE. He is currently in his fifth year at the University of Ghana Medical School.
